Sick Day

My family has been pretty battered by this whatever the hell it is we've got for more than two weeks now. Even during my peaceful stay at Farm Sanctuary, it hurt a little to breathe, and I was hacking, hacking, hacking.

So I stayed home today. Again. Took some codeine cough syrup (oh, sweet delights), crawled into bed, and finished reading The Complete Maus.

Here's my opinion of The Complete Maus:

Holy crap. Better, even, than codeine cough syrup.

If you're not familiar (and I wasn't, really, until I heard Art Spiegelman on NPR a few weeks back and thought "damn, I have to read that"), it's Art Spiegelman's graphic novels (Maus I, Maus II) telling his father's story. His father grew up in Poland, got married, had a kid, was moved to the ghetto, sent to Auschwitz, later to Dachau, survived, moved to NY, and told his story to his son's tape recorder in the late 70s, early 80s.

Touching book. Beautiful.

A better way to spend my morning that sitting at my office and hacking at my staff.

Much, much better.
