It Begins (The Economy vs You, Again)

'Tis the season, I guess.

The other day, I heard the first of what I'm sure will be many "will retailers post big enough holiday season profits to pull us out of this?" new stories on the radio.

Back in 2008, right before everything really went to shit, I was hearing those stories and getting aggravated and wanted to write something right then... but then things just started getting worse and worse and more and more twisted, and it was hard really to find the right thread, the right piece to pull out and look at.

Now, three years later, I just don't much have the energy.

So I'll keep it simple. I'll say this:

Don't you think there's maybe something wrong with a system that depends for it's survival on people spending money they don't have on crap they don't need?

Doesn't that just seem... I don't know... wrong?

There is a radio show in the Cleveland area called Get Rich Slow. One of the things the host advocates is spending very little but hoping if not advocating that the other guy spends like crazy.
